Roy Hodgson now appears more confident of persuading Fernando Torres to stay at Liverpool after the Spanish striker revealed to him that his heart is set on remaining at Anfield.

It’s thought that in private discussions between Hodgson and Torres, the Spaniard has pledged his future to the club for at least one more season, despite his desperation to continue playing Champions League football.

Chelsea and Manchester City are keen to bring Torres to their respective clubs, however it appears that they will have to wait at least one more year to try and do so. This will be music to most Liverpool fans ears; however until Torres gets back from holiday and makes it public knowledge, they won’t be counting their chickens.

If Hodgson does manage to persuade Torres to stay then it will be like a new signing for the club. Many pundits felt it was inevitable Torres would leave over the summer. They may have failed to appreciate the bond Torres has with the club and fans, however, and this may just be enough for him to give it one more season, at least.

What’s your view? Will Torres be staying at Anfield?

He has a beef with the medical team me thinks, and blames them for his injuries and not bein fit for the world cup, which showed with his performance’s. He was not able to fully celebrate the world cup win as much as he would have liked because he felt he did not contribute what he knows he is capable of. If liverpool have a good season and qualify for the champ league he will stay even longer.

Should he stay then he would be deified by the Anfield faithful!

There are many reasons not to stay:
    1) The club is in horrible financial shape.
    2) Medical staff are not up to par.
    3) We’re still under the ownership of yankee muppets.
    4) No CL football this season.

BUT, there are good reasons why I believe he WILL stay:
    1) The fans.
    2) The fans.
    3) He’ll never play for another English club.
    4) He’s an Atleti at heart. Fighter till the end. Always the underdog gunning for the championship.
