Danny Wilson (left) has shown he is one to watch following an outstanding year at the heart of Glasgow Rangers’ defence. The 18 year-old has just completed the move south of the border to sign for Liverpool, where new manager Roy Hodgson believes the youngster has ‘star quality’.
Wilson has signed on a 3 year deal worth an initial £2 million with a further £3 million dependant on appearances. The young Scot turned down Champions League football with other Premier League sides to move to Merseyside.
Last season Wilson won the Scottish PFA and WFA Young Player of the Year awards and is a member of the Scottish U21 national team, following on from captaining the U19s. The young defender has much to live up to, following an illustrious line of Scotsman who have headed south to Anfield such as Kenny Daglish, Graeme Souness and Alan Hansen. With Liverpool in somewhat of a rebuilding process and with Roy Hodgson keen to build the team around British talent, Wilson may just get his chance to prove himself at the highest level sooner rather than later.
